LEESBURG, VIRGINIA INFORMATION
Recycling Bins

The town provides one free blue plastic bin to each household and businesses (only those who receive curbside trash service). Place co-mingled recyclables at the curb for pickup. Bins should remain in the house if the resident moves. Additional bins may be purchased for $6 at the Leesburg Government Center, 25 W. Market St., 8:30-5:00. The town will replace damaged bins at no charge.

Special Collections
  • Brush - The towns Street Division provides free collection of brush (branches up to 6" in diameter by 6' in lengh) on Tuesday and Wednesdays. Brush must be placed at the curb by Monday evening. No call is necessary. For additional information call 703-737-7073.
  • Appliances and Furniture are collected on Fridays by request, no charge. Please email us at trash@leesburgva.gov or call 703-771-2790, leaving your address, the item for special pickup, your name and phone number. Special EPA rules for any appliance containing freon: Before the appliance can be collected the freon must be removed by a certified technician who will place a sticker on the appliance stating that it is freon-free.

Recycling Do's & Don’ts

Newspapers & Magazines

Do's: Tie in bundles or put in paper grocery bags or recycling bin. Glossy inserts may be included.

Don'ts: No phone books or thick catalogs.

Glass Bottles & Jars

Do's: Include green, brown & clear glass. Remove caps and rinse. Leave labels on.

Don'ts: No broken glass, light bulbs, window glass, mirrors or drinking glasses.

Aluminum & Steel Cans

Do's: Rinse. Can be crushed.

Don'ts: No aluminum foil, spray cans or scrap metal.

Plastic Bottles & Containers

Do's: Include only No. 1 & No. 2 plastics. Remove caps & rinse. Crush to conserve space.

Don'ts: No oil containers, toys, styrofoam, margarine tubs, flower pots, plastic wrap or plastic bags.

Cardboard

Do's: Includes paperboard, cereal boxes, shoe boxes. Can include paper packing material, placed inside one of the boxes. All other boxes must be broken down.

Don'ts: NO STYROFOAM or NON-PAPER packing material. No packing material or wax-lined boxes.

Grass & Yard Waste

Do's: Include grass, weeds, leaves, prunings and small twigs. Place in biodegradable paper lawn bags (sold at grocery and home supply stores) or place loose in trash cans. Trash cans MUST have a sticker on them in order to be collected. (Please contact trash@leesburgva.gov or 703-771-2790 to request stickers.) See Special Collections for pickup of large branches (brush).

Don'ts: No yard waste in trash cans without a sticker. No yardwaste in plastic bags or cardboard boxes. Do not mix with household trash or recyclables. No sod, rocks or dirt.

Recycling Drop off Centers

Recycle phonebooks, newspaper, cardboard, white office paper, glass, cans, and plastics anytime at one of the towns three drop off centers:
